Clarksville Montgomery County Ajax Turner Senior Center (also known as Clarksville 50+ Activity Center)
What do we do?
We provide a variety of opportunities and services to seniors 50 years of age and older.
Resource Information, Educational Opportunities, Physical Fitness Opportunities, Recreational Opportunities, Arts and Crafts, Health Screenings, Nutritional Services, Respite Services, Outreach, Telephone Reassurance, Visitation Programs, Lending Closet and more. We have over 300 activities related to these programs going on during any month serving 200+ seniors everyday.
Our Services
Nutritional Services-A hot meal is provided Monday through Friday from 11:00AM until 12:30PM. The meal consists of a salad, an entrée, a starch, two or three vegetables, a dessert, bread and a drink. On occasion soup and sandwiches may be substituted for variety.
- Lunches cost a member $5.00 and Non-Members $10.00. Carry outs are provided for $.25 more to cover the cost of the container.
- A full breakfast is served Monday through Friday from 8:00-9:30 am at no cost to individuals 50 and older.
- Snack items are provided to fill our Goodie Bags for our Homebound
- Breakfasts, Lunches and Snacks are prepared and distributed to our Adult Day Care Senior Circle of Friends
- A "Sunshine" snack cart is provided daily from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
- We celebrate the last Thursday of the month with cake and ice cream celebrating birthdays during the month.
- We maintain a Free Lunch Program that is based on United Way allocation, and donations we receive. We will provide free lunches to those that qualify until the funds are depleted.
Physical Fitness Services- A variety of Physical Conditioning and\or Fitness activities are provided at no cost.
- Utilizing Exercising Equipment, i.e. Treadmills, Weight Machines, Elliptical Machines, etc.

- Ballroom Dancing Classes
- Line Dancing Classes
- Chair Aerobics
- Exercise Class
Educational Programs- We provide a variety of Educational activities throughout the week. Some of them are:
- Ceramics Classes: Wednesday through Friday, from 9:00AM until 3:00PM Fees are for supplies used and for firings
- Dance Lessons featuring Line Dancing and Waltz’s at a cost of $2.00 on Tuesday nights from 6:00PM- 7:30 PM
- Interdenominational Bible Study, on Wednesday at 10:00AM
- Sewing Class at 9:00AM on Mondays; 12:00PM on Thursdays for quilting, no cost
- Spanish Classes on Thursday at 10:00AM, no cost
- Coloring Class at 1:00PM on Tuesdays
- Craft Cafe Classes meet on Friday at 10:00AM
- Diabetic Support Classes meet at 10:00AM on Tuesday and usually provide a guest speaker to provide valuable information on managing diabetes
- Vision Support Group Classes meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 9:00AM
- Special Speakers and Seminars are provided when we can obtain them on a variety of subjects such as Medicare Supplemental Plans, TennCare, Vision Care, Couponing, and other areas of interest as they arise
- Health Fairs at least quarterly with outside vendors providing health tips, screenings and information
Health and Wellness Programs are available to all participants and administered by our Volunteers. These services are designed to promote and encourage “Wellness” among the participants. We provide:
- Blood Pressure Checks
- Glucose Checks
- Weight Checks and Weight Loss Programs
- Eye Checks
- Hearing Checks
- Flu Shots, when available
- Balance and Strength Testing
- Diabetes Counseling and Support
- Healthy Cooking Classes
- Self-Managing Chronic Diseases
- Foot Clinic
Recreation and Social Events are offered daily to all our participants. We offer a variety of recreational/social events at no charge.
- Bingo Games 4 days per week offering “food prizes”
- Pool/Billiard Games Daily
- Eight Ball & Partners Pool Tournament Monthly
- Card Games Daily including Rook, Pinochle, Party Bridge
- Rook Tournament Monthly
- Duplicate Bridge Weekly
- Jigsaw Puzzles Daily
- Chess Games
- Horseshoes on occasion
- Monday and Thursday Dances for a Donation
- New Year’s Eve Dance
- Christmas Pot Luck Dinner and Dance
- Live Band Dances on Saturday Nights. Cost is $5.00 for Members and $6.00 for Non-Members.
Homebound Services are offered for those members who cannot attend the Center for one reason or another.
- Daily Telephone Calls Reassuring the participant’s safety
- Weekly Personal Visits delivering Goodie Bags to the Homebound senior, which include snacks, personal hygiene items and games to challenge the mind
Special Services are provided to an array of community groups that supplement the Center’s programs and offer additional support for different groups. Some of the services we offer through other organizations are:
- Information and Assistance to participants for:
- Hearing Aids through “Hear Now”
- Financial through Urban Ministries
- Medicare representatives for related issues
- Tax Services through AARP
- LIHEAP(Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) by providing forms for assistance
- Prevent Blindness Tenn. providing eye screenings and low cost glasses
- Department of Human Services offering services for the Blind and Visually impaired
- Vision Support
- Grief Support
- Congestive Heart Failure Support Group
Community Support Services are offered through the Center providing space for:
- Al-Anon and Al-Ateen Meetings- Weekly
- Disabled American Vets- Monthly
- Gold Star Wives- Monthly
- Second Harvest Food Bank- Pick Up Site
- Middle Tennessee’s Table- Grocery Rescue
- Mature Workers On-the-Job Training- Ongoing
- Indoor Yard Sales- Monthly
- Diabetic Support- Presentations of information Weekly
- Neighborhood Watch
- Outback Steakhouse Surplus Raw Goods Pick up
- Hair Salon- Prices in line with Beauty College
- Thrift Shoppe- Donations and Consignments from participants (80/20 split)

- Lending Closet and Give Aways are provided throughout the year with items donated by our participants and/or the community. Our Lending Closet is on a first come basis and we loan out for as long as needed. The Lending Closet items may include:

- Hospital Beds
- Lift Chairs
- Electric Scooters
- Bedside Potty Chair
- Books on Tape and Movies
Give Away items are available when provided by the local grocery stores, Loaves and Fishes, Second Harvest, and private donations. They may include:
- Pads and Depends
- Ensure
- Toiletries
- Bread and Pastries
- Clothes
- Puzzles, Books and Magazines
Fundraising Events are held throughout the year to provide matching funds for our funding partners. Fundraisers may include:
- Yard Sale, 1st Friday of each Quarter
- Holiday Bazaar in November
- Christmas Yard sale in December
- Bake Sales throughout the year
- Silent Auctions with donated items usually quarterly
Adult Day Center/ Senior Circle of Friends
Provides services for seniors with various forms of dementia who may be at risk of entering a nursing home. We provide respite for caregivers so they may continue working, attend their physician appointments, shop, take care of daily business, etc. Fees are required to be prepaid and are based on the participant’s income. We accept AmeriGroup; AmeriChoice; all insurances if approved; and GNRC’s Options program offered by the State.
We are licensed by the State of Tennessee’s Department of Human Services for 20 adults. The Senior Circle of Friends is a part of the Clarksville Montgomery County Ajax Turner Senior Citizens Center and is part of the 501(c)(3) non-profit company.
Our hours are from 7:30AM-5:00PM Monday- Friday
