Volunteer: Volunteer Online as a Conversation Partner

Ready to change a life from the comfort of home?

Join ENGin as a conversation partner! This is a flexible and unique opportunity to make a direct  impact on someone’s life while discovering a new culture and meeting a new friend.

We’ll pair you up with a learner in Ukraine for weekly one hour videochats at times that are convenient for you. During your conversations, you’ll practice English with your partner, learn about each other’s cultures, and offer an empathetic, authentic space for connection.

No prior tutoring experience or knowledge of Ukrainian language is needed to volunteer with ENGin. We offer ample training resources, session materials, and total flexibility to customize your sessions to fit your/your partner’s goals and preferences. Our friendly team is available to support you throughout your time with us.

Our only requirements for volunteers are English fluency, a strong internet connection, and the ability to commit to one hour a week for a minimum of 10-12 weeks.

Since our launch in 2020, ENGin has matched over 26,000 volunteers with Ukrainians for authentic English-language connection across borders, and we continue to grow every day. 99% of our learners report feeling they were able to break the language barrier as a participant in our program, and 79% of our participants form lasting friendships.

Here's what three ENGin volunteers say about their experience.

"I made a friend in Ukraine and we are teaching each other about our culture, our language, and our humor. We're even trading dad jokes! Both of us look forward to our chats and have a hard time wrapping it up."

“Fantastic organization doing great work. So happy to be a small part of it.  My partner and I have worked together for two years and have become good friends! Her English has become better, and I have become more knowledgeable about Ukraine!”

"This program has been, I think, life-changing for both of us. I really consider her more like my daughter right now. That's how close we have become!"

To learn more about ENGin and become a volunteer, please visit www.enginprogram.org/volunteer.

If you’d like to learn more about ENGin before joining, please watch the recording of the volunteer info-session here.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our team at info@enginprogram.org.

Foster Grandparents are not part of the "Foster Care" program. They are individuals at 55 or older who generously donate their time to mentor/tutor children in schools, daycare centers, after school/summer programs and in Head Start Centers. Volunteers serve 15-40 hours per week, working to help children achieve success academically, socially, or developmentally. They are the classroom "Grandparents" who are there to provide additional support to struggling students.

Volunteer: Christian Youth Group Mentor & Leader

Youth For Christ (YFC) combines healthy relationships with creative programs to help teenagers (grade 6-12) make good choices, establish a solid foundation for life, and positively impact their schools. Like every ministry of YFC, we seek to engage teens in the Greater Clarksville Area as lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.

We currently are in need of volunteer leaders to support our activities and events to the teenagers on Fort Campbell through our military ministry. YFC Military supports military-connected youth and their families through unconditional, authentic Christ-sharing relationships. These relationships increase resiliency, empower good decision making, strengthen the bonds between teens and their families, and provide the opportunity for military-connected youth to become life-long followers of Jesus Christ.

If you have the desire to be one of God's ambassadors to the teens on Fort Campbell or in the Clarksville area, we need you. We have after-school programs, evening activities, day trips, weekend retreats, summer camps, and other events throughout the year for which we need energetic and Godly adults who wish to speak the truth of Jesus into the lives of pre-teens and teenagers.

Volunteer: School-based mentors needed

The children of Clarksville need you!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville has started a School Based Program where volunteer mentors go into the school during the school day to visit with their mentees. Meetings are about 45 minutes long and happen only at the school within school hours. The children are in grades first through fifth and are facing adversities such as bullying, single-parent homes and low-income family life. They are bright children in need of someone to defend their potential.

Volunteers – called Big Brothers or Big Sisters (or simply “Bigs”) – visit the children – called Little Brothers or Little Sisters – once a week when school is in session (from August to May.)

Each Little has 2-4 different time periods each week when he/she can be excused from class to meet with the Big. The Big knows these times and can plan the visits well in advance. If something comes up (because things often do) the Big simply lets BBBS or the school know they will not be able to meet that day and he/she reschedules for another time that week.

The “Match” meets in areas designated by the school, like the library, guidance room, gym or playground. The pair plays games, reads or simply talks about their day or week. Most importantly, they build a relationship that can change a young person's life and put them on a path to realize their own potential.

Visit Big Brothers Big Sisters website to learn more or click here to fill out the volunteer form.
